A new study shows that soldiers are naturally fit to fight. An experiment completed by students at Yale University found that "blood analysis of soldiers who remain cool in a crisis show they have higher levels of chemicals that dampen the fear response". Some of these soldiers do not get as stressed as others, the Yale students found. The Yale experiments have been observing soldiers' stress hormone levels of during survival training which includes mock interrogations and pow experiences. The researchers have found that some soldiers have "lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol and higher levels of neuropeptide y, a chemical that dampens the body's stress response".
